God is great, God is good

Today I read Proverbs 29-30 and Galatians 3. My favorite verses are:

Proverbs 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

As I read these verses, I thought of the prayer my parents taught me as a child, “God is great and God is good . . .” Can’t you visualize this great God catching the wind and closing His hand around it then letting it go again as He pleases? From a gentle breeze to a hurricane, He controls it all. God and His Son and the Holy Spirit working together as one established the earth: They decided which galaxy and which solar system it would be in. They placed it in the third orbit around the star that we know as the sun. They set everything in motion so that it will continue for as long as They choose to allow time to pass—day and night, summer and winter, year after year, until They say STOP! We don’t know when that will be, but we can know the one who makes that decision. By faith in His Son Christ Jesus, we can be His children, and that relationship will not end—it will be EVERLASTING. God is good.

On a personal note, last night I auditioned for a part in the Stained Glass Theatre’s Christmas production. If I am fortunate enough to be able to perform with that Christian drama group, I pray that I will glorify God with each word, action, and song that I share. I recently asked some women to pray that God will make me a witness; perhaps this is His answer . . .
